Did I Ever Say "Thank You" Mom? By Lakshmi Prasanna, Andhra Pradesh , India
When I look back at the pages in my life I find myself wondering...They are all devoid of two small words 'Thank You.' Did I ever remember or sort of thank my loving mother for all that she has been doing for me?
For all of those times when she was there by my side to help me
celebrate my accomplishments and successes and lifting me up while accepting my losses and defeats? For that struggle to help me cross the obstacles and reach for opportunities! For sharing my dreams and help me try in making them realty! For all those tears that she silently cried for me!
For standing right by me always even after a hot argument! For all
those days in and days out when I threw her into a state of indignity with my outclassed notoriety!
Not even for making me understand the value of hard work, good
judgment, courage, and honesty! For enlightening me to respect the
value of living! For helping me see each truth of the world! For all
those special, carefully and rightly timed pearls of wisdom that she
has been beading in my mind through years!
Mother I frankly wonder if I have ever sent you across a small thank you note for those simple yet memorable things... The laughter, the endless fun and smiles, and those quiet silent times that we have been sharing through years!
What a pity really! I had forgotten to express my gratefulness for any of those things that she had made me feel full and complete like I am today! I take that little time now to say a thank you for that class person in my life because I know that I am rather too late for a plenty of things in life but not really late to let my mother know how much she is appreciated well inside...and I am hoping that she must have known all along, how very much a mom who is always loving and giving like she is endeared in a child's heart.
Mom! One thing! If there is any one thing on this earth, material or
immaterial, that can match the sparkle in your love-spreading and
kindness-exuding eyes I will not hesitate to get it for you on this
day, because in every sense of the word you are a great lover and I really want to love you so much mother. "Mom, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude for the gift of love you have been rendering in our home everyday and for the unmeasured sacrifice you have been doing for me all these years mom, I thank you for everything you have done Mom. I am blessed to be your child."
