FATTEST PAY ANY MOTHER WOULD ASK FOR....By Murthy Satya V V,Vijayavada, India
My grandson, 8-year-old Athrey was playing with his dear friend Kalesh at the backyard of our house. Kalesh brought with him a new set of cricket gear.
"Boy O' Boy! Exclaimed Athrey. "That looks awesome. By the way how did coax your parents to get that expensive one for you man?"
"Well that's a top secret and it will cost a few bucks for me to
disclose that tip for you!" said Kalesh.
"I don't mind my dear friend, let it out"
Kalesh gave it out or rather made the secretive upadesha to Athrey.
It seemed to act well on the behavior of my grandson, which his mother started to appreciate because she has been praying for it for so many days.
Athrey is babysitting with his sister even at the smallest cry that his sister is making.
He is going out to the store to help his mom get some emergent stuff.
More than all of these he is keeping his room tidy and doing assignments regularly without mom shouting from behind.
Mom's happiness knew no bounds and one day evening the boy came up to his mother who is there in the kitchen while she was fixing supper, and he handed her a piece of paper.
My daughter-in-law dried her hands on an apron and started reading it, and this is what it contained, Pay slip of 8-year-old Athrey
For cleaning up MY messed up room, 50 per month
For going to the supermarket for you, 50 per month
For baby-sitting my 2-year-old sister while you were shopping at the store 25
For dog walking Timmy everyday 25
Sorting and handing out the garbage to the garbage collecting person 50 per month
For getting a good report card for YOU, 25
For cutting the grass and watering the plants, 25
And you owe a total of rupees 250 to me for this month.
Well, Athrey's mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could not well read through the memories that were flashing through her mind at that moment. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper that he had
written on and went on jotting down something.
This is what she wrote,For the nine months that I carried you while you were growing inside me......?
For all those sleepless nights that I have sat up with you, doctoring and praying for you......?
For all the trying times, and all the tears that you have caused through these 8 long years......?
For all the nights filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead......?
For receiving all those hammerings and brickbats from school and neighbors on your behalf......?
For the toys, food, clothes, cleaning you top and bottom, and wiping your nose........?
When you add it up, THE COST OF MY LOVE IS......?
My grandson finished reading what his mother had written and he was in full tears. He looked straight up at his mother and said, "Mother, I sure do love you and I cannot pay you back the cost of your love for sure no matter how much I serve you my dear mom!"
To this my daughter-in-law replied, "your eternal love for me would be the fattest pay that I expect to receive. So can you please give that to me?"
My grandson replied back, "I will mother. Sure I hope will."
I've heard this before! It's called a 'chestnut' - an old saying or story that contains a little pearl of wisdom at its heart. Nice one, Murthy!
