The city is popularly known as temple city due to the presence of a large no of temple all around the city. Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Orissa, a state situated in the eastern part of India. Bhubaneswar was declared as the capital of the state in the year 1948. And still around 500 temples are present in the city making the city one of the tourist destinations of eastern India. Apart from these temples another monument that is standing tall is the khandagiri and udayagiri cave. These caves were craved by Samrat Kharabela the then ruler of Orissa. And the cave carries many scriptures regarding his ruling and Orissa in those days. The caves were carved to give shelter to the Jain rishis.

Ekamra Kanan and Nicco Park are providing amusement facilities like Boating, rides etc. One of the most attractive places is Nandankanan a Zoological park situated in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.  Here you will find 67 kinds of mammals, 18 kinds of reptiles and 81 bird species. Apart from this you can enjoy boat ride, rope way, safari visit elephant ride, aquarium and 3d film shows. There is also a gorgeous botanical garden present near the park.
