In Poetry - AS I WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE By VIDYA MANESHWAR NAIK, Mumbai, India

AS I WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE

As I walk down memory lane
Faded images are seen in pain.

I remember those long forgotten childhood days
I remember those long forgotten playful ways
I now see sad glances watch the setting sun’s rays.

I remember hearing the temple bells ringing
I remember hearing the nightingale singing.
I now hear only the cars and buses honking

I remember seeing children playing
I remember seeing the trees swaying
I now hear only the loudspeakers blaring.

I remember friends and relatives visiting
I remember the neighbours coming
I now see only salesmen disturbing.

I hear no step, nor a knock,
Gone are those days in key and lock.
Gone are those days in key and lock
.

      Hi Irene!
Thanks for welcoming me into your world of 4IndianWoman.Your words of encouragement will surely help me put in some more of my thoughts into words, which may be appreciated by some or all.
I am just an amateur in this world of writing, but I really appreciate all that I have read on this site.
I will try my best to go ahead and imbibe certain techniquies of writing, but I feel that it is not necessary to use high language and that even simple words can convey your inner thoughts.
Once again a BIG THANKYOU TO ALL!
I may be addressed as VIDYA,THE MOTHER from MUMBAI.
