In Jessie's Corner - Waiting in anticipation

X

It wasn’t ever going to happen, yet moi foolish heart wanted it so much that rationality seem to find no place in my foolish musings!

Here moi was, waiting for the impossible to happen.  Although moi knows it’s never going to happen, yet moi waits. Take for example we all know and moi too knows for sure that a fairy isn’t going to come over, wave her magic wand and turn moi into Cinderella or that my prince charming could come riding on a white horse. Ha, we know if any prince is to come – they sure aren’t going to depend on the old fashion mode of transport but would rather prefer fast wheels to get to their Cinderellas.

Jeeze! Aren’t most of us like this?

Always wanting the impossible, knowing it is never going to happen—yet we wait in anticipation for that particular something to happen out of the blue, a miracle to take place—only to be disappointed.  When it doesn’t happen, we lose our hearts—because we have been hell bent on having it — we whine, are filled with pain that things didn’t happen the way we wanted it to happen. Aahha, moi friend what do you do now?  Hmmm…probably vow!  Vow that you are never going to put yourself through this torture ever again.  But a few days later, what you do or what does your inner being crave –of course in moi case---moi heart starts pining for that impossible to happen.

Time and again it happens.

Why do put ourselves through this pain? When we know certain things aren’t meant to happen—yet we want those very things to happen, just because we feel it is right—my heart might tell moi that what moi is asking for, is rational—so why is moi being denied that very thing that moi craves for so much. It’s a question that moi hasn’t found answers to yet.

Lovers when they part ways—moi is sure that they are either wishing they never meet each other (if the parting has been bitter) and some wishing against hope that someday—somewhere their beloved would be theirs once again—happens na all the time?

Is it foolish to do so?

Is it foolishness on our part to hope for something that isn’t ever going to happen?

Giving way to passion rather than to rationality.

Hmm…moi knows we are rational beings—but does it always help to be rational? Yea, rationality sure does count but at the same time a part of moi wants to listen to what moi heart has got to say to me.

So folks what’s your take here. Moi is waiting, amigos!!!!!!

Most sane human beings live their entire lives in hope. It is only natural Jess. At least, it is better than becoming cynical about everything in life. As for heart break! Well that's another matter altogether, part of the price you pay for hope. Hand in hand!

Hmm..goes in hand in hand ---doesn't it? When people give up, many do turn cynical, becoming bitter about everything in life--whereas those who listen to their inner self probably live in hope that life will be what they it to be sometime in the future.

    Dear Jessie,
Beautiful piece of thinking. I think that foolishness what you mentioned only makes our life some thing better than documentaries. Being rational in each and every moment will surely take the life out of our stories, may not be, but I think so.

I strongly believe that hoping against hope is the only tonic that keeps somebody going. Otherwise any damn soul will be very soon dragged in the whirlpool of depression. So there's no shame or foolishness in indulging your heart to do so.I never stop my heart from doing so and sometimes I'm blessed too to get what I want!
